Responsibilities:
- Direct the planning and execution of the annual citywide external audit, keeping requests, milestones, and deliverables on track from start to finish.
- Act as the central point of contact between finance leadership and outside auditors, ensuring timely communication and resolution of outstanding items.
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, providing daily leadership, setting expectations, and driving accountability across managers, supervisors, accountants, and technical staff.
- Review workpapers, reconciliations, reporting schedules, and supporting documentation to maintain accuracy and audit readiness.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing annual financial statements and related disclosures in accordance with applicable reporting standards.
- Oversee accounting support for numerous general fund departments by evaluating financial results, reviewing reporting packages, and strengthening overall financial oversight.
- Contribute to quarterly forecasting and budget-related activities by analyzing trends, identifying risks, and offering recommendations to leadership.
- Partner with leaders across finance, accounting, and operational teams to address issues, remove obstacles, and align on priorities in a complex stakeholder environment.
- Present financial updates and key findings to senior leaders and, when needed, support communication with public governing bodies such as City Council.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

- Strong background in general ledger management, month-end close, financial reporting, and annual external audits.
- Experience reviewing financial statements, audit support materials, and complex accounting documentation.
- Advanced Excel skills, including the use of lookups and pivot tables.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead across multiple priorities.
