Original job description
We are looking for an Art Director to shape visually striking event environments and branded experiences. This contract opportunity is ideal for a design leader who can translate creative concepts into immersive physical spaces while guiding vendors, fabrication partners, and creative contributors. The right candidate will bring strong aesthetic judgment, hands-on proficiency with Adobe tools, and experience directing large-scale, high-end experiential projects from concept through execution.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the creative direction for experiential events, pop-up activations, and other branded environments with a strong focus on visual impact and guest experience.
- Develop design concepts for large-format event spaces, including layouts, scenic elements, overhead features, and custom-built components.
- Provide clear art direction to fabricators, production vendors, and external creative partners to ensure the final execution aligns with the approved vision.
- Oversee the design development process for luxury and one-of-a-kind events, balancing creativity, feasibility, and brand standards.
- Create presentation materials, design documents, and visual assets using InDesign and other Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
- Collaborate with rendering specialists and production teams to guide the visualization of event spaces, stages, and environmental design elements.
- Review spatial plans and environmental details such as tent structures, suspended décor, and lighting-driven focal points to support cohesive event design.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to refine concepts, solve design challenges, and maintain consistency across all experiential touchpoints.
- Proven experience in art direction or senior design roles focused on experiential marketing, live events, or branded physical environments.
- Strong background in designing large-scale, premium, or highly customized events and activations.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, with InDesign required; Photoshop and related creative tools should be part of your regular workflow.
- Demonstrated ability to direct vendors and fabrication partners through the execution of custom scenic or environmental design elements.
- Experience with spatial design for pop-up activations or festival-style brand experiences rather than traditional trade show exhibits.
- Familiarity with Vectorworks is preferred, and exposure to stage-related design or event space visualization is a plus.
- Understanding of 3D renderings for spaces or objects, including the ability to review and manage rendering output effectively.
- Knowledge of environmental design features such as ceiling installations, tented structures, chandeliers, or other elevated decorative elements is highly valued.
