We are looking for an Accounts Payable specialist to support day-to-day financial operations for a manufacturing facility in South Carolina. This long-term contract opportunity focuses on ensuring invoices, vendor payments, and account balances are handled accurately and on schedule while partnering with internal teams and suppliers to resolve issues efficiently. The role is well suited for someone who is organized and comfortable working across routine accounting tasks and period-end activities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage invoice processing activities, including reviewing submissions, identifying exceptions, and resolving payment-related discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Track outstanding payables and follow up on aging items to help maintain accurate account status and prevent delays in vendor settlements.
- Serve as a point of contact for suppliers and internal stakeholders by addressing questions related to invoices, payments, and account issues.
- Maintain vendor master data and supporting records to ensure information remains accurate, current, and audit-ready.
- Perform reconciliations of accounts payable balances and research variances to support financial accuracy.
- Prepare and review goods receipt and invoice receipt reporting, including analysis of aged balances and follow-up on unresolved items.
- Assist with payment coordination activities to help ensure vendors are paid correctly and according to established timelines.
- Contribute to month-end and year-end close processes through reconciliations, reporting support, and other assigned accounting tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree with 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience, or at least 7 years of related work experience in place of a degree.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable practices, invoice handling, vendor payments, and account reconciliation processes.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies, resolve invoice or payment issues, and manage outstanding items with attention to detail.
- Experience supporting reporting activities and period-end close tasks in an accounting environment.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to respond effectively to vendor and internal inquiries.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate financial records and performing administrative accounting duties in a structured environment.
- Manufacturing industry experience is helpful.
- Availability to support a flexible schedule of up to 40 hours per week, with potential discussion around reduced weekly hours or adjusted daily schedules.
