We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to support a growing automotive organization in Charlotte, North Carolina. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone who can manage a high volume of receivables activity while maintaining accuracy across billing, cash application, and account reconciliation. The role will work closely with finance and cross-functional partners to improve cash flow, resolve account issues, and help keep month-end activities on track.
Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounts receivable operations, including invoicing, payment posting, and follow-up on outstanding commercial balances.
- Apply incoming funds from multiple payment channels and verify that transactions are recorded accurately in the appropriate customer accounts.
- Reconcile customer ledgers and bank-related activity to identify discrepancies, clear exceptions, and maintain accurate financial records.
- Review new customer setups, evaluate credit-related documentation, and help maintain appropriate payment terms and account limits.
- Lead collection efforts by communicating with customers, addressing disputes, and escalating higher-risk accounts when needed.
- Prepare recurring reporting related to aging, account balances, rebate activity, and general ledger support for the accounting team.
- Process account adjustments such as credit memos, debit memos, and manual billing entries in accordance with internal controls.
- Assist with month-end close tasks, sales tax reporting, and audit support while helping address backlog volume and strengthen AR procedures.
- Use SAP S/4HANA, Zoho, and advanced Excel functions to analyze data, monitor cash flow, and support process improvements across receivables activities.
- At least 3 years of accounts receivable experience in a fast-paced environment with exposure to billing, collections, and cash application.
- Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA is required.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP, with the ability to work through large data sets efficiently.
- Proven ability to perform reconciliations, manage month-end support activities, and maintain accurate account records.
- Experience handling credit memos, debit memos, credit limit monitoring, and customer account maintenance.
- Strong analytical thinking, organization, and written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage a high volume of transactions, and collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in accounting or finance is preferred.
