Accounts Receivable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join an organization in Birmingham, Alabama. This hybrid, contract opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing customer interaction with detailed receivables work in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Assist internal teams and external clients with accounts receivable questions, payment concerns, and account research
• Monitor incoming payments and investigate unapplied cash to ensure funds are posted accurately and promptly
• Maintain organized receivables records and support day-to-day billing and cash activity functions
• Use Excel, Outlook, and company accounting systems to track account status, communicate updates, and document follow-up actions
• Partner with colleagues across a large accounting team to address discrepancies and support timely resolution of outstanding items
• Contribute to collection efforts and account follow-up to help improve payment turnaround and reduce aging balances
• Work effectively in a fast-paced hybrid setting while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of customer service
• Previous experience in accounts receivable, collections, or a closely related accounting support role is preferred
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with both internal and external stakeholders
• Working knowledge of core accounts receivable processes, including cash application, billing support, and payment tracking
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Ability to stay organized, manage multiple priorities, and perform well in a high-volume environment
• Experience working within a large organization is preferred
• Familiarity with accounting software, ERP platforms, CRM tools, or related business systems is helpful
