We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join a growing distribution company in Burbank, California on a Contract-to-Hire basis. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume setting and can manage a broad customer portfolio with accuracy and professionalism. The role focuses on end-to-end receivables support, including billing, payment application, collections follow-up, and account reconciliation. Candidates who bring strong Excel skills, sound judgment, and a customer-focused communication style will be well positioned for success.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the complete accounts receivable cycle, ensuring invoices, payments, and collections activities are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Prepare and issue recurring monthly billing for a large customer base, maintaining consistency and accuracy across high transaction volumes.
- Review customer account activity to confirm proper billing, track payment status, and identify issues that may delay collection.
- Post incoming payments from bank activity and other sources to the correct customer accounts in a timely manner.
- Investigate account discrepancies such as short payments, unapplied cash, and billing variances, then take action to resolve them efficiently.
- Keep receivables records current by updating account details, maintaining supporting documentation, and preserving audit-ready files.
- Reconcile customer balances and contribute to aging analysis to support visibility into outstanding receivables.
- Work closely with internal departments to answer billing questions, clear account issues, and improve collection outcomes.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounts receivable, preferably within a high-volume transactional environment.
- Hands-on knowledge of invoicing, commercial collections, cash application, and related billing functions.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of customer accounts while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented, service-oriented approach.
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel for tracking, reconciliation, and reporting tasks.
- Ability to work independently, organize competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Experience in distribution, logistics, or another product-driven industry is preferred.
- Background in contract billing or high-volume transaction processing is a plus.
