Accounts Receivable Specialist

A well-established company in Solana Beach is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to help maintain healthy cash flow and strong client relationships. This role goes beyond simply sending invoices: the successful candidate will monitor outstanding balances, research payment discrepancies, and work directly with customers and internal departments to resolve account issues efficiently.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare and issue customer invoices in accordance with contracts and billing schedules.
• Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue accounts through email and phone outreach.
• Apply customer payments, process adjustments, and reconcile account balances.
• Research short payments, unapplied cash, credits, and billing discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate customer account records and document collection activity.
• Partner with sales, account management, and operations teams to resolve invoice questions.
• Prepare AR aging reports and provide updates on collection status.
• Assist with month-end close, including AR reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Identify recurring billing issues and recommend improvements to invoicing procedures.
• Help maintain appropriate documentation for audits and internal reviews.
• 2+ years of accounts receivable, billing, or commercial collections experience.
• Working knowledge of payment applications, account reconciliations, and aging reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive account matters professionally.
• Excellent organization, accuracy, and follow-through.
