We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Clerk to support daily payment processing and account reconciliation activities. This role focuses on maintaining accurate customer payment records, applying incoming funds, and helping keep receivables current across a broad customer base. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with high-volume spreadsheets, verifying payment details, and coordinating follow-up on outstanding balances with care and attention to detail. This is a direct hire position with standard in office business hours! Proficiency with Excel is a MUST!
Responsibilities:
- Process incoming customer payments on weekly and biweekly cycles and record transactions accurately in accounting records.
- Review large cash spreadsheets in Excel and compare payment information against internal financial data, including Great Plains, to confirm accuracy.
- Reconcile payment amounts to open balances and investigate discrepancies to ensure accounts are updated correctly.
- Maintain organized and current accounts receivable records for key customers as well as the broader customer portfolio.
- Perform light commercial collections by following up on overdue balances in a timely and detail-focused manner.
- Manage different payment formats and remittance practices used by major customers and apply funds correctly based on supporting details.
- Support day-to-day billing and cash application activities to help maintain efficient receivables operations.
- Assist the accounting team by handling routine receivables work so senior accounting staff can focus on complex projects.
They do offer a full benefits package: medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, 401K with a match, PTO, growth, and more!
- Experience in accounts receivable, including payment posting, reconciliation, and account maintenance.
- Working knowledge of commercial collections and detail-oriented follow-up on outstanding invoices.
- Proficiency in cash application and matching incoming payments to customer accounts.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to manage and review large cash sheets with accuracy.
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as Great Plains or similar financial software.
- Detail-oriented approach with the ability to identify payment discrepancies and resolve them efficiently.
- Effective organizational skills to manage recurring payment activity and daily customer account updates.
