Position Overview A growing commercial services company is seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its team. This position will initially focus on commercial collections, account reconciliations, and maintaining customer accounts across multiple business entities, with a combined monthly receivables portfolio ranging from $5M–$10M. As the role evolves, this individual will take on increasing responsibility for the company's entire Accounts Receivable and billing function across all entities, eventually assuming ownership of these responsibilities from the company owner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking initiative, improving processes, and growing into a key accounting role within an organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial collections across multiple business entities for a combined monthly receivables portfolio ranging from $5M–$10M.
  • Proactively follow up with customers regarding outstanding invoices, past-due balances, and payment discrepancies.
  • Perform account reconciliations across multiple entities and research discrepancies to ensure accurate customer balances.
  • Maintain consistent communication with customers to resolve billing and payment issues.
  • Monitor aging reports, identify collection risks, and prioritize collection efforts.
  • Prepare, track, and manage construction-related liens and lien waivers.
  • Partner with the company's attorney to coordinate lien filings and ensure required documentation is submitted accurately and timely.
  • Maintain organized records of customer communications, collection activities, and supporting documentation.
  • Gradually assume responsibility for the full Accounts Receivable and billing cycle across all entities, including invoicing, payment applications, and overall AR management.
  • Ensure accurate allocation and tracking of receivables by entity.
  • Identify opportunities to improve collection processes, billing accuracy, and overall AR procedures.
  • 3+ years of experience in Accounts Receivable, commercial collections, or a related accounting role.
  • Experience managing a high-volume commercial collections portfolio.
  • Multi-entity accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Construction or commercial services industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction liens, lien waivers, and the lien filing process is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of account reconciliations, aging reports, and cash applications.
  • Experience managing customer accounts and reconciliations across multiple entities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, particularly when handling collection matters.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities and grow into a broader accounting role.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Monday–Friday, in-office position.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Opportunity to grow into a full-cycle, multi-entity Accounts Receivable role with increased responsibility and ownership.
