We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Analyst to join a chemicals manufacturing organization in Southfield, Michigan. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume environment and can manage customer accounts with accuracy, urgency, and professionalism. The person in this role will support the full receivables cycle, from cash posting and invoicing to collections follow-up and account reconciliation. Success in this position requires strong analytical ability, effective communication, and a detail-oriented approach to financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Review incoming customer payments across bank accounts and ensure receipts are accurately identified and recorded.
  • Apply daily cash transactions, update cash activity records, and maintain organized logs for tracking and reporting purposes.
  • Distribute invoices through internal accounting tools and customer portal platforms while following up to confirm successful delivery and processing.
  • Communicate with customer accounts payable teams to address overdue balances, confirm expected payment timing, and resolve invoice-related questions.
  • Reconcile customer accounts to investigate discrepancies, clear outstanding items, and support timely collections.
  • Prepare reports and summaries related to cash receipts, receivables activity, and other financial data requested by leadership.
  • Enter banking transactions, support deposit activity, and match bank records to accounting entries to maintain accurate reconciliations.
  • Track intercompany receivable activity and maintain complete, well-organized accounting documentation and files.
  • Develop weekly cash expectation forecasts and assist with identifying and resolving accounting issues affecting receivables performance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or comparable experience in accounts receivable or a related finance function.
  • Hands-on understanding of receivables processes, including aging analysis, cash application, billing, collections, and bank reconciliation.
  • Familiarity with accounting software; experience with Sage 100 is preferred but not required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, with advanced Excel capabilities such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
  • Solid numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information accurately.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and internal stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Proven ability to manage large volumes of information, prioritize competing deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound problem-solving ability, and a customer-focused mindset.
