We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team on a Long-term Contract assignment with a reputable manufacturing company. This fully onsite opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist who can step in quickly, manage daily payables activity, and support broader accounting operations with minimal oversight. The role offers the chance to contribute to a stable finance function while assisting with reconciliations, month-end activities, and audit-ready documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full accounts payable cycle, including reviewing invoices, arranging timely payments, and identifying opportunities to capture available vendor discounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies involving purchase orders, contracts, invoices, credits, and payment records to maintain accurate vendor balances.
- Code and post expenses to the appropriate general ledger accounts and cost centers by evaluating invoice and expense documentation.
- Reconcile vendor statements and related account activity on a regular basis to confirm accuracy and address outstanding items promptly.
- Support month-end close by preparing journal-related documentation, assisting with reconciliations, and supplying records needed for audit review.
- Maintain organized financial files and supporting documentation in accordance with internal standards and accepted accounting practices, including 1099-related records.
- Process adjustments such as stop payments, credit memos, and purchase order updates when required to keep transactions current and compliant.
- Collaborate with accounting leadership on additional finance and administrative tasks as needed to support departmental priorities.
- 5+ years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting role.
- Strong working knowledge of month-end close activities, general ledger coding, and journal entry support.
- Experience performing account reconciliations, including vendor and bank reconciliations.
- Familiarity with purchase orders, invoice matching, and payment issue resolution.
- Working knowledge of 1099 documentation and records maintenance.
- Ability to work independently in a fully onsite environment while managing multiple priorities accurately and efficiently.
- ERP system experience is preferred; Epicor ERP exposure is helpful but not required.
