Original job description
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join a contract to permanent opportunity in Temple, Texas. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume setting, works well with changing priorities, and can manage daily responsibilities with strong judgment and limited oversight. The role supports essential accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, discrepancy resolution, and month-end activities, while helping maintain timely workflow across the department. Responsibilities: • Review and enter a large volume of vendor invoices with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness. • Verify invoices against purchase orders and receiving documentation to ensure proper three-way match before payment. • Investigate differences involving pricing, quantities, receipts, or purchase order details and coordinate resolution with the appropriate teams. • Communicate with vendors and internal departments such as purchasing and receiving to address payment or documentation issues. • Reconcile vendor statements, identify outstanding items, and follow up on unresolved invoices. • Assist with accounting support tasks such as journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and reporting related to accounts payable. • Contribute to payment cycle activities, including ACH and check run support, while helping meet month-end deadlines. • Help reduce aged invoice volume while keeping current accounts payable transactions moving efficiently through the process.
- Prior experience in a high-volume accounts payable role is required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform three-way matching involving invoices, purchase orders, and receipts.
- Working knowledge of general accounting concepts, including journal entries and account reconciliation.
- Proficiency in Excel and experience using ERP or accounting systems for invoice and payment processing.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize work and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Solid problem-solving skills and the ability to research issues independently and make sound decisions.
- Experience supporting ACH payments, check runs, invoice coding, and vendor account maintenance is preferred.
- Familiarity with manufacturing or purchase order-driven environments and exposure to 1099 processes is a plus.
