We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to join a team in Memphis, Tennessee in a contract capacity with the potential for a permanent role. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented financial work, can manage a fast-paced invoice environment, and is eager to grow into broader ownership of the accounts payable process. The role supports daily invoice processing, purchase order matching, and issue resolution while working across systems that help organize and route AP activity.
Responsibilities:
- Process a high daily volume of vendor invoices with accuracy and timeliness, typically handling approximately 125 to 150 invoices per day.
- Review purchase orders against supplier invoices and investigate any pricing, quantity, or documentation differences before approval.
- Enter invoice and payment-related information into accounting systems while maintaining complete and organized records.
- Provide day-to-day support for accounts payable activities with the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility for the full AP workflow over time.
- Assist with preparing and issuing invoices as needed to support broader transactional accounting operations.
- Perform account coding and ensure expenses are assigned correctly in accordance with internal accounting practices.
- Use Fieldstack to manage purchase order review and matching before transactions move into Sage Intacct for accounting processing.
- Support invoice management and data maintenance across digital AP tools, including AI-enabled invoice storage platforms and related administrative tasks.
- Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including invoice review, entry, and processing.
- Ability to code invoices accurately and apply appropriate account classifications.
- Familiarity with matching purchase orders to invoices and resolving discrepancies efficiently.
- Experience working with Sage Intacct in an accounts payable or accounting support environment.
- Strong data entry skills with the ability to maintain accuracy in a high-volume workload.
- Comfort using multiple systems and business applications, such as purchase order platforms, email, and cloud-based office tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when handling financial records and vendor documentation.
