Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations for a Contract position based in Flushing, New York. This role is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, accuracy in financial processing, and confidence working with invoice review and payment coordination. The selected candidate will help maintain timely vendor payments, organized records, and dependable accounts payable support for the team.

Responsibilities:

• Process vendor invoices accurately and assign the appropriate account codes before entry and approval.
• Review billing documents for completeness, resolve discrepancies, and ensure payment records are properly maintained.
• Manage accounts payable activities from invoice intake through final disbursement in line with established timelines.
• Prepare and support ACH payments while confirming transaction details and payment accuracy.
• Coordinate routine check runs and verify supporting documentation prior to release.
• Communicate with internal contacts and vendors to address payment questions, missing information, and invoice issues.
• Maintain organized financial files and assist with reconciliations related to outstanding payables.
• Hands-on experience in accounts payable processing within a detail-oriented business environment.
• Working knowledge of account coding and the ability to classify invoices correctly.
• Experience reviewing and entering invoices with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Familiarity with ACH transactions and standard electronic payment procedures.
• Experience supporting check run preparation and payment processing cycles.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational ability, and follow-through on deadlines.
• Effective communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders.
