We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support financial operations for a leading affordable housing investment organization in Boston, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position will focus on invoice processing, vendor administration, reimbursement handling, and accounting support tied to fund reporting and documentation. The role is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage both routine transactions and time-sensitive requests in a controlled financial environment. This position is expected to run from November 30th 2026- May 30th 2027.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end accounts payable cycle, from invoice review through payment processing, while ensuring required approvals and supporting records are in place.
  • Create and maintain vendor profiles in the accounting system, confirming information is accurate and complete before activation.
  • Record employee expense reimbursements in the designated AP platform and verify submissions meet internal standards.
  • Monitor adherence to established accounting procedures and help uphold controls that protect the reliability and security of AP-related financial systems.
  • Investigate payment and invoice questions, provide timely follow-up on outstanding items, and prepare clear responses to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain organized process documentation, reconciliation records, and payment tracking logs to support audit readiness and operational transparency.
  • Take an active role in improving day-to-day payable workflows by identifying issues early and helping keep transactions on schedule.
  • Provide administrative and reporting support to the Fund Accounting team during high-volume periods such as audits, tax reporting cycles, and financial statement preparation.
  • Assist with assembling financial and tax reporting packages by gathering data, updating schedules, and retaining supporting documentation in an orderly manner.
  • Handle ad hoc requests for both Accounts Payable and Fund Accounting, including research, reporting, and general operational support as needed.
  • Experience supporting accounts payable functions, including invoice handling, payment processing, and vendor record maintenance.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, policy compliance, and documentation standards within an accounting or finance environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with accounting or ERP systems for transaction entry and record management.
  • Ability to perform reconciliations, maintain logs, and produce accurate reporting with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with fund accounting, financial reporting support, tax package preparation, or audit-related documentation.
  • Strong research and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively to payment or accounting inquiries.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills for working with internal teams, vendors, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver dependable support in a fast-paced finance setting.
