Original job description
We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join Construction & Engineering organization in Atlanta, Georgia on a contract-to-permanent basis. This role is ideal for someone who can keep invoice activity organized, address payment-related questions promptly, and maintain accuracy across high-volume accounts payable tasks. The position begins with a strong focus on bringing incoming invoices into the system and supporting vendor communication, with the opportunity to expand into broader end-to-end payable processing over time.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a primary point of contact for vendors and internal team members by handling payment and invoice-related questions in a timely, thorough manner.
- Set up and maintain vendor invoice recognition profiles in the organization’s software and confirm that captured information is accurate before processing.
- Enter invoice details manually for documents that do not import through automated workflows, ensuring complete and correct coding.
- Upload purchasing card templates and prepare related invoice vouchers for payment processing.
- Process a range of invoice types, including urgent requests, non-purchase order invoices, and both two-way and three-way match transactions.
- Partner with the purchasing team to investigate and resolve differences between invoice details and purchase order records.
- Coordinate with the tax team to address variances between system-calculated tax amounts and vendor-submitted invoices.
- Review invoices that remain unprocessed, identify the cause of delays, and drive timely resolution to keep payments moving.
- Contribute to additional accounts payable activities and special assignments as business needs require.
- Prior experience in accounts payable with hands-on responsibility for invoice review, coding, and processing.
- Working knowledge of invoice matching methods, including non-PO, two-way match, and three-way match transactions.
- Ability to manage a high volume of invoices while maintaining strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Experience responding to vendor inquiries and collaborating with internal departments to resolve payment discrepancies.
- Proficiency with manual data entry and comfort working within accounting or invoice management systems.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to follow issues through to completion.
- Experience using JDEdwards or similiar large ERP system required.
