The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound accounting knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple priorities while protecting sensitive financial information.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities to ensure transactions are recorded accurately, reviewed for reasonableness, and completed within established deadlines.
- Prepare journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and compile supporting schedules for financial statements, regulatory submissions, statistical reporting, and internal management reports.
- Review financial results, identify variances or discrepancies, and communicate findings along with practical recommendations for resolution to finance leadership.
- Administer accounts payable processes by validating invoice details, confirming approvals and coding, issuing payments, maintaining vendor records, and resolving statement differences.
- Handle accounts receivable activities by generating invoices, posting customer payments, tracking outstanding balances, reconciling account activity, and following up on overdue items according to policy.
- Process payroll on a regular schedule, including review of time records, adjustments, deductions, reimbursements, tax-related entries, and employer-paid obligations.
- Reconcile payroll reports, benefit withholdings, tax balances, and related ledger accounts, then investigate and correct inconsistencies in a timely manner.
- Partner with Human Resources and operational leaders to update payroll and financial records for hires, departures, compensation changes, leave activity, and benefit elections.
- Support month-end and year-end close by reconciling cash activity, preparing required documentation, assisting with audits and filings, and maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and internal standards.
- Contribute to finance team workflow coordination, assist with training and project support, and provide updates to leadership on work progress, quality, and completion status.
- At least 2 years of experience in accounting, payroll, or staff accountant responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of general ledger activity, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.
- Experience supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in a detail-oriented setting.
- Familiarity with payroll processing, including deductions, taxes, reimbursements, and payroll-related reconciliations.
- Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and corporate tax return support activities.
- Proficiency with ADP payroll systems and standard accounting software or financial reporting tools.
- Ability to interpret and apply accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies with accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills, analytical ability, and discretion when handling confidential financial and employee information.
