Original job description

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core accounting activities for a manufacturing organization. This role is well suited for a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who can manage daily financial operations, support accurate inventory-related accounting, and partner effectively with operational teams. The position offers broad ownership across accounting processes and the chance to contribute directly to financial accuracy, reporting, and business performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct daily accounting activities across payables, receivables, invoicing, and cash collection to keep transactions accurate and current.
  • Lead the monthly closing process by preparing reconciliations, reviewing balances, and producing timely financial reports for management.
  • Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through accurate journal entries, account analysis, and consistent recordkeeping.
  • Oversee inventory-related accounting and partner with internal teams to confirm alignment between stock activity and financial data.
  • Administer purchasing documentation by reviewing purchase orders, matching vendor invoices, and validating receiving records.
  • Work closely with purchasing, warehouse, and operations staff to resolve discrepancies affecting inventory, billing, or vendor transactions.
  • Monitor outgoing payments and customer account activity to help manage liabilities, aging balances, and collection follow-up.
  • Use Sage accounting software to record transactions, support reporting needs, and maintain organized financial information.
  • Assist with audit preparation, financial review activities, and improvements that strengthen accounting accuracy and efficiency.
  • Ensure accounting files and supporting documentation are complete, well maintained, and compliant with established procedures.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including responsibility for core month-end activities.
  • Prior accounting experience within a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Hands-on experience with Sage accounting software is required, with Sage 100 or Sage MAS 90 strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
  • Experience supporting inventory accounting, purchasing workflows, and purchase order processing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to prepare and analyze financial reports.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage priorities independently.
  • Experience assisting with financial statement audits and maintaining accurate supporting documentation is preferred.
