Original job description

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join an office environment in California, supporting a range of accounting, tax, and administrative activities within the agriculture industry. This contract opportunity is well suited for an organized candidate who can manage financial records, assist with tax-related documentation, and help keep entity and trust administration organized. The role offers exposure to bookkeeping, reporting, banking support, and cross-functional coordination while working closely with internal leadership and external advisors.

Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day accounting activities by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assembling financial schedules for reporting and review.
  • Maintain accurate records across trusts, partnerships, corporations, and related entities, ensuring documentation is current and well organized.
  • Track outgoing payments, incoming funds, and routine expenses while helping monitor the completeness of financial transaction records.
  • Assist with month-end close tasks and contribute to the preparation of materials used for financial statement reviews and audits.
  • Compile tax documentation and supporting schedules for individual, trust, partnership, and corporate filings, coordinating details with outside tax professionals as needed.
  • Help manage estimated tax payments, filing extensions, deadline tracking, and responses to tax notices in a timely manner.
  • Review bank activity, monitor cash positions, and prepare backup documentation for transfers, disbursements, and other treasury-related transactions.
  • Maintain investment records, statements, and transaction schedules while supporting administrative processes tied to trusts and affiliated entities.
  • Coordinate correspondence, filings, distributions, scheduling, and document preparation with attorneys, accountants, banks, and other external advisors as required.
  • Provide broader administrative support and contribute to special projects assigned by the Office Administrator.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline, with accounting coursework strongly preferred.
  • Experience or exposure in bookkeeping, general ledger activity, account reconciliation, and journal entry preparation.
  • Familiarity with tax return support for individuals and business entities is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial and personal information with a high level of discretion.
  • Comfortable balancing accounting responsibilities with administrative coordination in a hands-on environment.
  • Prior experience in a family office or similarly complex multi-entity setting is helpful but not required.
