We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join a private equity firm in Cardiff, California on a 7-week Contract engagement. This on-site role will support the corporate accounting function, with a focus on keeping daily financial activity accurate, organized, and on schedule. The position is well suited for an experienced, detail-oriented accounting specialist who can work independently, contribute to a timely close cycle, and partner with leadership to maintain reliable financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct day-to-day cash activity by tracking balances, coordinating treasury-related tasks, and helping ensure funds are properly managed.
  • Lead accounts payable operations, including invoice review, approval coordination, and timely vendor disbursements.
  • Execute key steps in the month-end close process and help complete deliverables within an established 12-day timeline.
  • Prepare and examine journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting documentation to maintain accurate records.
  • Oversee general ledger activity and help ensure financial data is complete, properly classified, and ready for reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly financial statements and related close packages for internal review.
  • Research discrepancies, resolve reconciling items, and follow issues through to completion to improve account accuracy.
  • Partner with accounting leadership to meet reporting deadlines, reinforce accounting procedures, and identify opportunities to strengthen processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in corporate accounting with hands-on experience managing general ledger activity.
  • Proven ability to support or lead month-end close, including journal entry preparation and account reconciliation work.
  • Experience overseeing daily cash management and accounts payable functions in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of financial statement preparation and supporting schedules.
  • Ability to manage priorities independently and perform effectively in a fast-paced setting.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with tools such as NetSuite, Ramp, or Numeric, and experience in private equity or fund accounting settings is an advantage.
