Accounting Manager

A well-established mission-focused organization is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee key accounting and financial operations. This leadership role will manage day-to-day accounting functions, supervise a small team, and ensure the integrity of financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical accounting expertise, staff leadership experience, and a hands-on approach to financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and maintenance of the general ledger.
• Manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll processing, and cash management activities.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules to provide meaningful insights and ensure reporting accuracy.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment.
• Assist with annual budget preparation, forecasting activities, and variance analysis.
• Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting procedures, and financial policies to support compliance and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate external audit engagements and serve as a primary point of contact during audit fieldwork and financial reviews.
• Support tax-related reporting requirements, information filings, and compliance activities.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and record maintenance.
• Assist with treasury-related functions, including cash flow monitoring, banking activity, wire transfers, and investment account reconciliations.
• Partner with organizational leadership on special projects, financial analysis, and strategic initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or management responsibilities.
• Bilingual in Spanish required
• Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, account reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience managing multiple accounting functions in a complex organizational environment.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership abilities.
• CPA or CPA-track candidates strongly encouraged to apply.
