Accountant

We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Consultants with Staff Accountant experience to join our growing consulting practice in Chicago. This opportunity is ideal for accounting professionals who enjoy working in dynamic environments, gaining exposure to different industries, and supporting organizations with their accounting and financial operations. As an Accounting Consultant, you will work on a variety of client engagements, assisting with day-to-day accounting responsibilities, month-end close, financial reporting, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, maintain general ledger accounts, and assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and account analysis to ensure financial accuracy.
• Assist in preparing financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general accounting functions as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with accounting and finance teams to support audits, special projects, and other client initiatives.
• Adapt to different accounting systems, business environments, and client needs across multiple engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred.
• 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a Staff Accountant or General Ledger accounting role.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
