Original job description

The Inside Sales Representative drives customer retention and growth by converting corporate-generated leads, managing a portfolio of small to medium-sized accounts, and creating new opportunities within the existing customer base.

This role owns opportunities from inquiry through quote, order, and post-shipment follow-up, with an emphasis on speed, competitive solutions, disciplined follow-through, and an exceptional customer experience.

This is an ideal development role for a motivated sales or service professional who wants to strengthen technical, commercial, and account-management skills that can lead to a future outside sales opportunity with RLG. This will be a remote role in the West region, with a travel expectation of 25% within the region. During onboarding, this role may have more consistent travel to regional plants to support training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary contact for assigned opportunities generated through RLG corporate lead development; quickly qualify needs and move viable opportunities forward.
  • Gather complete specifications and coordinate with estimating, operations, technical teams, and other resources to deliver accurate, competitive quotes quickly.
  • Follow up consistently on open quotes, address questions and objections, and convert opportunities into new business.
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of small to medium-sized accounts, maintaining regular outreach to strengthen relationships, encourage repeat orders, and protect customer retention.
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts, including new products, applications, locations, and cross-selling opportunities across RLG capabilities.
  • Monitor ordering patterns and proactively re-engage customers when activity declines or retention risk is identified.
  • Follow up after shipment to confirm successful delivery, resolve concerns, and ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Maintain accurate Salesforce CRM records, pipeline activity, quote status, customer information, and sales forecasts.
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve customer issues and deliver on commitments.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of RLG products and capabilities, including pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, RFID and smart labels, flexible packaging, durable and engineered solutions, extended-content labels, sustainable products, embellishments, and related services.
  • Meet or exceed assigned sales, conversion, retention, and account-growth targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience in sales, account management, customer service, or another customer-facing commercial role.
  • 2+ years of inside sales, account management, business development, or related customer-facing experience preferred.
  • Driven to win, exceed targets, and take ownership of results while working independently.
  • Strong sense of urgency with the ability to manage multiple quotes, opportunities, customers, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, negotiation, active-listening, and follow-up skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a genuine commitment to responsiveness, accuracy, and service.
  • Strong technology skills, including experience with Salesforce or other CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Label, packaging, printing, or manufacturing experience preferred, with the ability to quickly build technical product knowledge.
