Original job description

About Reserv Reserv is an insurtech creating and incubating cutting-edge AI and automation technology to bring efficiency and simplicity to claims. Founded by insurtech veterans with deep experience in SaaS and digital claims, Reserv is venture-backed by Bain Capital and Altai Ventures and began operations in May 2022. We are focused on automating highly manual tasks to tackle long-standing problems in claims and set a new standard for TPAs, insurance technology providers, and adjusters alike. We have ambitious (but attainable!) goals and need people who can work in an evolving environment. If building a leading TPA and the prospect of tackling the long-standing challenges of the claims role sounds exciting, we can't wait to meet you.

Location Requirement Candidates must reside in an eligible U.S. state throughout employment. We are unable to hire candidates residing in California, Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, or outside the United States.

About the role The AV Claims Team Lead is the working leader of the AV claims team. The role carries a reduced inventory of the most complex files, coaches adjusters on AV-specific evidence and liability analysis, and is the first escalation point for severity, litigation, and client-sensitive incidents. What you'll do

Lead day-to-day work for the APD, BI, and Litigation Adjusters: assign files, balance inventory, and remove blockers
Review and approve reserves, settlements, and coverage and liability decisions within delegated authority; escalate beyond it
Handle or co-handle high-severity, high-visibility, and novel-liability AV files
Coach adjusters through file reviews, side-by-side handling, and 1-on-1s; set the team's standard for AV evidence preservation and file notes
Own the AV handling playbook: data-request templates, escalation triggers, reporting thresholds, and vendor and counsel guidelines
Serve as the day-to-day contact for AV operator, carrier, and client partners, including incident updates and recurring reporting
Monitor team performance and quality metrics; prepare weekly and monthly reporting for the Senior Manager
Onboard and train new hires; identify skill gaps and recommend development plans
Track AV legal, regulatory, and technology developments and turn them into handling updates
Partner with Compliance, QA, Legal, and Product on process and tooling improvements

Who you are

Detailed understanding of the SAE J3016 levels of driving automation (Levels 0–5), including the difference between driver-assist (Levels 0–2) and driverless (Levels 3–5) systems, and how each level shifts responsibility between the human, the system, and the operator
Determine who or what was in control at the time of loss: human driver, driver-assist feature, or automated driving system
Request, preserve, and read AV evidence: telematics, event data, camera and sensor footage, remote-assistance logs, and software version
Apply coverage, liability, and damages analysis across fleet-operator, manufacturer, supplier, and third-party exposures
Work with AV operator safety, legal, and risk teams under tight response timelines
Meet federal and state crash-reporting, privacy, and data-handling requirements for AV incidents
Document files so a supervisor, carrier, or auditor can follow the liability decision

Qualifications

7–10+ years of commercial auto claims experience across physical damage, bodily injury, and litigated files
2+ years leading, mentoring, or supervising adjusters
Prior AV, rideshare, delivery, or trucking program experience preferred
Strong analytical, communication, and client-management skills
Comfort with KPIs, audit results, and data-driven coaching
Bachelor's degree or equivalent claims experience
Active adjuster license(s) as required by the states handled, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
Proficiency in the claims system, document management, and Microsoft Office
Clear written and verbal communication with claimants, counsel, carriers, and client partners

Benefits

Generous health-insurance package with nationwide coverage, vision, & dental
401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
Competitive PTO policy – we want our employees fresh, healthy, happy, and energized!
Generous family leave policy after 8 months of continuous work
100% remote (home-based) role designed to support your work-life balance

Additionally, we will

Listen to your feedback to enhance and improve upon the long-standing challenges of an adjuster and the claims role
Work toward reducing and eliminating all the administrative work from an adjuster role
Foster a culture of empathy, transparency, and empowerment in a remote-first environment

At Reserv, we value diversity in backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences and believe that diversity in viewpoints and critical thinking drives innovation, first-principles thinking, and success. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage those from all walks of life to apply. If you believe you are a good fit for this role, we would love to hear from you!
