Job Description
As a Staff Product Engineer on our Hi-Reliability team, you will utilize in-depth technical knowledge and problem-solving acumen to resolve complex engineering issues and drive new ICs through the New Product Introduction (NPI) cycle. You will understand the interrelationships of different disciplines and network with key contacts across IC design, test, reliability, packaging, radiation effects, and manufacturing. In this role, you will determine methods and procedures on new characterization and qualification assignments, exercise independent judgment to evaluate variable factors, and identify best practices that deliver high-quality, manufacturable semiconductor solutions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical focal point and key technical contributor for Product Engineering tasks to achieve critical project milestones and NPI schedule targets.
- Determine methods and procedures on new characterization assignments, executing electrical validation and performance evaluations across environmental conditions.
- Investigate and resolve complex yield, reliability, and manufacturability issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercise judgment in selecting methods, adapting complex analytical techniques, and establishing evaluation criteria to interpret characterization, test, and production data.
- Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise - including Design, Test, Packaging, Quality, Reliability, and Foundry Operations - to drive cross-functional alignment.
- Partner closely with Test Engineering on automated test equipment (ATE) test strategies, bench-to-ATE correlation, and test coverage optimization.
- Identify and develop departmental best practices that deliver high-quality and effective engineering solutions.
- Adapt communication style and use persuasion to deliver technical findings, recommendations, and risk assessments relating to wider business targets.
- Frequently advise colleagues on complex technical matters and mentor less-experienced engineers within your domain expertise area.
- Complete engineering assignments independently, requiring management guidance only in the most complex situations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 6+ years of experience executing new product development within the semiconductor industry.
- Strong semiconductor/IC experience.
- Experience with Product Engineering and semiconductor new product introduction (NPI).
- Experience with IC characterization and evaluation of product performance.
- Strong data analysis capability, including interpretation of characterization, test, yield, production, or other semiconductor product data.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Direct experience with high-reliability, space-grade, or radiation-hardened semiconductor products and qualification standards (e.g., MIL-PRF-38535).
- Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) platforms (e.g., Advantest V93K, Teradyne ETS-64/UltraFLEX) and bench-to-ATE correlation.
- Proficiency in statistical data analysis tools such as JMP, Spotfire, or Python.
- Technical domain background in analog, mixed-signal, or power management ICs.
- Experience mentoring early-career engineers or acting as a task lead within a product team.
