Overview

About the Role

Launch Your Career at the Cutting Edge of Naval Aviation!

Imagine working where the future of flight takes off. This isn't just a desk job – it is your gateway to the Atlantic Test Range (ATR) in Patuxent River, Maryland, the Navy’s premier East Coast open-air test range.

As a vital member of our team, you will be at the absolute center of live aircraft and advanced weapons systems testing. We deliver high-octane, real-time Test and Evaluation (T&E) services – including state-of-the-art data acquisition, telemetry, instrumentation, and airspace management – for both the Department of War and pioneering commercial partners.

We are seeking a dynamic Range Systems Engineer (Journeyman or Senior) to serve as a key technical catalyst at the Atlantic Test Range (ATR). In this role, you will apply hands-on systems engineering principles to integrate, test, and optimize cutting-edge range capabilities – including TCTS II, LATR, and RTS. Operating at the intersection of live flight-test operations and advanced data engineering, you will directly collaborate with military, civilian, and contractor stakeholders to deliver decision-quality test and training data that safeguards the future of naval aviation.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

  • High-Tech & Fast-Paced: Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment utilizing next-generation technology.
  • Direct Mission Impact: Directly support live-flight missions and see the immediate results of your expertise in the sky.
  • National Security: Play a pivotal role in ensuring our Navy’s aircraft and weapon systems are the most advanced in the world.

If you are ready to challenge yourself, work with brilliant minds, and push the boundaries of aviation technology, your next chapter starts here. Join us and help shape the future of flight!

Core Job Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Range Systems Engineering

Apply systems engineering principles to analyze, design, develop, integrate, and test complex range capabilities, with a primary focus on:

  • TCTS II (Tactical Combat Training System Increment II)
  • LATR (Large Area Tracking Range / LATR SSA)
  • RTS (Range Tracking System)
  • TCTS (Inc I) (Tactical Combat Training System Increment I)
  • Support requirements analysis, definition, and traceability for new and modified capabilities.
  • Define and document system behaviors, performance requirements, interface control documents (ICDs), and verification methods to produce decision-quality data for PMA-205.
  1. Real-Time Data & Operations Support
  • Support systems engineering tasks involving real-time data collection, engineering analysis, data reduction, and mathematical/statistical analysis during flight test and training events.
  • Provide pre-event and post-event systems engineering support, reviewing event objectives, constraints, and configurations to ensure range systems are aligned with test/training requirements.
  • Monitor, capture, and track system deficiencies and performance issues observed during live events, proposing robust engineering solutions and mitigations.
  1. Technical Documentation & Change Control
  • Review, author, and maintain critical systems engineering artifacts, including technical analyses, test plans/procedures, design descriptions, and system specifications.
  • Participate actively in configuration and change control processes, providing high-quality technical inputs to Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and technical instructions.
  1. Integration, Test & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Coordinate and support laboratory and field integration and testing of upgraded hardware, software, and networked range systems.
  • Work closely with a diverse group of stakeholders, including Government ATR/PMA personnel, RTT project managers, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) contractors, and subcontractors to troubleshoot issues, align schedules, and manage risk.
