Original job description

We are Reckitt

Home to the world's best loved and trusted hygiene, health, and nutrition brands. Our purpose defines why we exist: to protect, heal and nurture in the relentless pursuit of a cleaner, healthier world. We are a global team united by this purpose. Join us in our fight to make access to the highest quality hygiene, wellness, and nourishment a right and not a privilege.

Supply

Our supply chain is the backbone of our business. It's how we get our trusted products to people all over the world, safely and efficiently. And it's our talented and passionate teams that make this happen.

If you're looking for a career in supply chain, there's no better place to be than Reckitt. We offer a variety of exciting opportunities in all areas of the supply chain, from planning and procurement to manufacturing and logistics. You could join our Global Supply Planning team to develop and implement our global supply strategy, or work with our Procurement Centre of Excellence team to negotiate and manage our supplier relationships.

Our Manufacturing Excellence team help us improve the efficiency, quality and safety of our manufacturing operations, and our Logistics Excellence team develop new and innovative ways to distribute our products to customers.

About the role

At Mead Johnson Nutrition, we live a “Safety First, Quality Always” mindset that supports everything we do. We are currently in need of a Sr. Project Engineer that will be responsible for executing a wide range of engineering based projects within our Zeeland based manufacturing operations and facilities. This individual will be joining a team of intelligent, enthusiastic and considerate individuals that help feed infants across the globe.

Due to specific projects that are currently active, this position requires a strong background in liquid process technology and systems used to move powders and liquids, mix, heat/cool, and clean for liquid based products.

Solid project management skills and experience are expected, along with flexibility to execute various type projects based on site priority. Our teams projects vary across a wide range of manufacturing needs, with typical budgets between $50,000 to $2M+ in total spend. Use of AI tools is expected and experience with Planisware software is a plus.

Because Infant Formula is a highly regulated food product, it is very important in our business to excel at GMP standards and to work collaboratively with internal and external resources to obtain these goals. Work performed in our manufacturing environment is expected to surpass typical food manufacturing requirements. MJN prides itself in being an industry leader in the infant nutrition category and considerable capital investment is utilized to maintain our position.

Your responsibilities

Lead teams in the development, design and implementation of capital projects for the site business while effectively balancing internal customer requirements in terms of scope, budget and timeline.
Partners with cross-functional leaders and teams to manage and deliver capital and technical projects that support business priorities in our manufacturing facilities.
Utilizes engineering techniques, project management principles through the gate approach method, risk analysis and previous experience to develop creative, innovative, and fast-paced solutions to project engineering issues in design, cost, schedule and scope.
Ability to understand and assure compliance with all applicable safety rules, building codes, regulatory requirements and internal MJN standards.
Accurately tracks, manages and communicates capital budget spend and progress to key stakeholders, managers and leaders.
Demonstrates the ability to assess risk and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks.
Strives for personal continuous improvement by learning from successes and mistakes, seeking to proactively build knowledge.

The experience we're looking for

B.S. in Mechanical, Chemical or related Engineering field and a minimum of 10 years managing capital engineering projects.
Preferred to have a strong background in liquid processing systems and technology, ideally with experience in vacuum mix tanks and powder induction systems for high-shear liquid mixing.
Required to understand and demonstrate thermodynamic principles of heating and cooling liquids through steam, heat exchangers, hot water recirculation, etc.
Required ability to read, understand and modify drawings, P&ID’s, and process flow diagrams.
Experience in Food, Powder, or Pharmaceutical Engineering is preferred.
Preferred to have experience managing and directing skilled contractors and professional engineering/consulting firms.
Experience managing the financial aspects and maintaining the budget for Capital projects from conceptual design to closeout.
