Original job description

Are you looking to launch a high-impact career in tech sales? As an entry-level Sales Development Representative (SDR) at RTI, you will serve as the engine of our sales pipeline. You will learn the ins and outs of software architectures powering mission-critical systems across key verticals: Aerospace & Defense (A&D), Automotive, and Commercial technology.

In this role, you will partner closely with Account Managers (AMs), Business Development (BDs), Field Application Engineers (FAEs), and Marketing to identify potential customers and engage engineering end users, leaders, and decision-makers. This is an ideal role for an ambitious self-starter who is excited by technology, eager to master modern sales strategies, and motivated by career growth.

✨ What You’ll Do

Outbound Prospecting (~70% Focus): Execute multi-channel outreach campaigns (phone, personalized email, LinkedIn) to target accounts across Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, and Commercial sectors to generate interest in RTI solutions.
Inbound Qualification (~30% Focus): Quickly follow up on marketing-generated leads (MQLs) to qualify intent, evaluate potential fit, and route high-potential opportunities to the sales team.
Account & Prospect Research: Conduct foundational research on target engineering organizations to identify key stakeholders, uncover potential project initiatives, and connect with messaging around specific industry pain points.
Discovery & Meeting Booking: Engage prospects in initial business discussions to uncover project timelines and technical challenges, scheduling discovery calls for Account Managers.
Continuous Technical Learning: Participate in ongoing training to build a working knowledge of RTI Connext®, embedded systems, real-time connectivity, and key industry trends in autonomous vehicles, defense systems, and commercial IoT.
Sales & CRM Hygiene: Maintain disciplined tracking of daily activities, outreach steps, and account notes within Salesforce and modern sales tools to ensure data accuracy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside Account Managers and Marketing to refine messaging, align on account strategies, and optimize outreach workflows.

🎯 What We’re Looking For

Experience Level: 0–2 years of professional experience (entry-level candidates, recent graduates, or candidates with internship/customer-facing experience are encouraged to apply).
Core Aptitude: Highly motivated, resilient, and driven to launch a long-term career in enterprise technology sales.
Curiosity & Tech Interest: A strong interest in - or familiarity with - how software impacts physical systems (e.g., autonomous vehicles, defense platforms, healthcare robotics, or complex commercial systems).
Communication Skills: Clear, confident, and professional written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable making outbound phone calls and reaching out to technical buyers.
Coachability & Adaptability: Eagerness to learn new concepts quickly, accept constructive feedback, and continuously refine prospecting tactics.
Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with standard business tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn) and a fast learner when adopting sales enablement platforms (e.g., Salesforce, ZoomInfo, Gong).

Don’t meet every single requirement? At RTI, we are dedicated to building a fair and inclusive workplace so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t perfectly align with all qualifications in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway! You may be just the right candidate for this or another one of our open roles. Learn more about our commitment to our workforce, here!
