Job Description

RESPEC is seeking a full-time Power BI Developer. You will turn student loan data into dashboards and reports that decision-makers can trust for the Minnesota Office of Higher Education (OHE). Your main goal is a stable, reliable Power BI Service environment. You will write SQL queries, validate loan data from many sources and build complex custom visualizations. You will also move legacy Tableau and Crystal reports into Power BI. You will train State staff and work closely with business and technical teams. There is no incumbent, so you will help shape how this environment is built. Core Responsibilities You will design and maintain Power BI dashboards for a variety of business users. That includes custom UI visualizations built to specification, ad hoc reporting, and automated exports to tools like Excel. You will write and extract SQL queries, validate data quality across multiple datasets, and perform root cause analysis on loan-related data issues and anomalies. You will also develop data refresh strategies sourced from Azure SQL Server and other systems. You will set up and configure Power BI within the Power Platform environment. You will establish best-practice security, accessibility and access-management controls, and remediate accessibility issues in existing reports. You will make sure every report meets performance and client requirements. You will also work with people directly. You will gather and document business requirements and business rules, and fill in when a business analyst is unavailable. You will lead technical meetings and write technical manuals. You will deliver Power BI training, mentoring and co-development sessions. You will provide daily project status reports to the client and complete a thorough knowledge transfer before the engagement ends.
