Original job description

Traffic control flagger is responsible for safely and efficiently directing traffic and pedestrians through and around a work zone. You will be responsible for keeping the crew safe from moving vehicles as well as the traveling public safe from equipment and workers on the road. You will be expected to stand for long hours in all weather conditions. You are expected to be able to follow directions and communicate clearly - with your partner, the public and the customer's work crews. You are expected to be in place on time, everyday. You are required to have reliable transportation. You will be contacted every night with your job assignment and you will either drive directly to the work site or you will meet here at the office and ride/drive with another flagger to the work site in one of our company trucks. These jobs are "sign sets" and, in this case, you will be expected to help "set-up" the work zone. You will be required to pass a pre-employment drug test and could be selected randomly for a "random test". You are required to take a flagger course and pass a test. You will then have your flagger certification. You will also be required to have your own PPE - hard hat, class 3 safety vest/coat, retroreflective 24" stop/slow paddle, two-way radios, whistle, work boots (no tennis shoes, flip flops allowed). We will provide you with daily timesheets which will be filled out daily and signed by the on-site foreman. Payday is weekly on Friday, we do offer direct deposit.
