Original job description

About the company Our client is a technology company. The role Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Design and build the user-facing layer of a software product, carrying work from early sketches and prototypes through to shipped frontend code. The role combines interaction design with hands-on engineering and sets the visual and interaction standard for the whole application. What you'll do

  • Take features from early sketches and prototypes through to shipped frontend code, then refine them using customer feedback.
  • Own every user-facing screen of the application and make complex back-office tasks feel simple and quick to complete.
  • Partner closely with senior leadership and engineering on how people work alongside automated features.
  • Explore and test new interface patterns for software that takes actions on a user's behalf.
  • Create reusable components and a shared design system that raise the quality bar across the product.
  • Speak with end customers to understand their working processes and check design choices against them.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • Experience as a hybrid designer-engineer, meaning a designer who codes or a design-focused engineer.
  • Two to eight years of experience designing and building products.
  • Track record of taking products from zero to one at fast-growing, early-stage companies.
  • Hands-on history of getting interfaces released to production, supported by solid knowledge of client-side development.
  • Sharp visual judgment and craft, evidenced by a sample of design work the candidate can share.
  • Ability to clearly explain the design decisions behind their work.
  • Able to work on-site five days a week in New York City.

Bonus points

  • Experience building business-to-business software.
  • Experience designing interaction patterns for AI-driven products.
  • Ability to work across the full stack.
