Founding Engineer

About the company Our client is an insurance company. The role Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Build and refine AI-driven software in a small engineering group, owning features across the stack from data models to user-facing interfaces. The work centers on automating internal analytical and operational workflows, with a focus on reliability and careful evaluation of AI behavior. The role also shapes the team's engineering practices and system design as the group grows. What you'll do

• Build and iterate on AI-driven software that automates internal analytical and operational workflows.
• Take full-stack features from design through production across Python and TypeScript.
• Partner with non-engineering colleagues to build tools that expand their capacity and output.
• Create evaluation frameworks, safety checks and reliability tooling for AI systems where errors carry real consequences.
• Help define engineering culture and architecture as part of an early, growing engineering team.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• 2 to 8 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience with AI engineering, such as agents, evaluations, LLM APIs or fine-tuning, or a strong interest in it.
• Full-stack or backend-focused background, with no pure frontend-only profiles considered.
• Experience owning and shipping a full-stack product end-to-end, from idea to production.
• Experience at a leading product company or venture-backed startup at staff or tech-lead scope, or having founded a company.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field from a top-25 university.
• A humble, service-oriented attitude and a collaborative approach with colleagues outside engineering. Bonus points
• Experience in healthcare or insurance technology.

• Base salary: $175K - $300K
