Forward Deployed Engineer

About the company Our client is an artificial intelligence company. The role Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own a technical operations and engineering role that takes early prototypes to dependable production systems. The position combines hands-on building, such as queries, scripts and dashboards, with planning, cross-team coordination and performance measurement. The right candidate brings both technical depth and operational experience and is comfortable running complex work. What you'll do

• Set direction and plan the roadmap for an assigned area of an internal production system, from early prototypes through to scaled operation.
• Build early versions of tools and workflows yourself, such as queries, scripts, dashboards and prototypes, then partner with engineers to scale them.
• Translate customer-facing model needs into concrete workflows, specifications and project plans.
• Coordinate across operations, engineering and research to bring new systems from concept to launch.
• Use data to guide decisions and track output, quality and cost.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or other technical science, earned at a highly ranked university in the US or Canada.
• 2 to 8 years in a product management, technical program management, founder, forward deployed engineering or technical operations role. Pure product management or pure software engineering backgrounds do not qualify.
• Advanced database query skills plus the ability to assemble small working prototypes alone, from start to finish.
• Experience independently creating internal utilities to handle intricate operational work, whether at an early-stage company, in advisory work or in an operations function.
• Strong product intuition and the ability to work well with engineers and researchers.
• Recent work at a fast-moving young company or a leading technology firm.
• Background in a demanding customer-facing engineering organization, or a consulting or technical program management background paired with a technical education.
