Associate Attorney

About the company Our client is a law firm. The role Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take on a varied docket of civil defense litigation, guiding matters from start to finish under the mentorship of a partner. The work spans written advocacy, discovery and courtroom appearances, and suits someone who can run a full workload with little oversight. What you'll do

• Defend civil claims involving property conditions, vehicle collisions and related liability exposure from intake through resolution.
• Carry a sizable docket of active files at the same time.
• Prepare motions, pleadings and written responses to discovery requests.
• Take and defend witness testimony at depositions.
• Attend court hearings and help get cases ready for trial.

Requirements

What we're looking for

• Active New York bar license in good standing.
• JD from an ABA-approved law school.
• At least 2 years of civil defense litigation experience, ideally with casualty or liability matters.
• Defense-side experience only, gained at a defense firm where you handled complete files rather than motion work alone.
• Track record of juggling a high volume of open cases.
• Ability to meet an annual billable hours target of roughly 2,000 to 2,100 hours.
• Self-motivated, able to run a full caseload independently with minimal supervision.
• A stable employment history.

Bonus points

• Admission in both New Jersey and New York.
• Hands-on experience with depositions, hearings and discovery work.
• Trial or mediation experience.
