Rave engineers take great pride in the product they develop because our software-as-a-service (SaaS) product suite keeps millions of people across North America safe, secure and connected. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Software Engineer who will be responsible to improve upon the existing design and development of a scalable suite of critical Alerting and Messaging applications that are a part of the Rave Mobile Safety Platform.

What you'll do:

Design

• Partner early in the project lifecycle to create appropriate design patterns and recommendations related to our integrations both internally within Rave and externally with 3rd Party providers
• Partner on the design of new UI features and workflows
• Participate in Agile SCRUM team discussions to ensure delivery of a high-quality and fault tolerant platform
• Provide technical oversight and direction for software integrations with third parties

Development

• Develop a secure, scalable, and highly fault tolerant messaging backend using C# and SQL
• Develop an intuitive and user-friendly web frontend using ASP.NET, HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Develop new and enhanced messaging services with modern capabilities to meet the needs of an expanding platform
• Improve existing systems, ensuring they remain performant and compliant
• Work with other teams to solve customer issues quickly
• Review code and provide relevant feedback

Best Practices, Performance, Security

• Troubleshoot and debug software code to optimize performance
• Work with the software quality assurance team throughout the development process to test and fix/improve components
• Ensure designs consider security and compliance

Who you are:

• BS degree in Computer Science or other relevant field(s) (or equivalent experience)
• At least 4 years’ experience designing highly scalable fault tolerant systems
• Strong knowledge of backend, frontend and site operations
• Background in C# and JavaScript development
• Experience with a JavaScript framework (Angular, jQuery, Vue.js)
• Ability to analyze code quickly
• TCP, UDP, DNS, HTTP
• API design & implementation
• Experiencing designing and implementing systems that utilize highly available asynchronous processing
• Scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, python, Lua)
• Databases (specifically MS SQL Server) & SQL
• Experience with integrating third party libraries and APIs
• Ability to analyze and evolve complex systems
• Experience designing for Cloud-based architectures (AWS, Azure, etc.)

Above and Beyond:

• Ability to work independently
• Familiarity with a wide range of messaging frameworks and protocols (SIP, SMTP, T.38, TTY etc.)
• Experience with cross-platform .NET development (Windows & Linux)
• Experience with NoSQL databases, especially Redis
• Experience with web servers (IIS, Apache)
• Experience working within Agile software development
• Experience with secure coding standards
