Key Responsibilities
Regional Quality Leadership
Own Quality performance across Concord and the NA PPS satellite manufacturing sites.
Lead, develop and hold accountable the regional Quality organization, including site Quality Engineering, inspection and laboratory resources.
Establish clear operating rhythms for escalation, management review, KPI follow-up and corrective action.
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Product Management, Sales and Service while maintaining independent Quality judgment and escalation discipline.
Customer Quality & COPQ
Ensure customer complaints, field concerns and service-related quality signals are captured, investigated, contained and driven to verified closure.
Establish reliable Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) reporting and convert quality losses into prioritized improvement actions.
Lead significant customer-quality escalations and ensure containment, communication and corrective action are proportionate to risk.
Provide fact-based recommendations regarding customer credits, containment and recall or field-action decisions.
Manufacturing / Process Quality
Establish effective Quality presence and control plans across all NA PPS manufacturing locations.
Improve process capability, defect prevention, first-pass yield, scrap performance and quality at the source.
Ensure recurring manufacturing defects are addressed through disciplined root-cause analysis and sustained corrective action.
Deploy practical use of SPC, MSA, PFMEA, control plans, layered verification and other preventive quality methods where appropriate.
Supplier Quality
Build and maintain a risk-based supplier quality program for paper, parts and other critical inputs.
Implement supplier performance scorecards, audits, corrective-action governance and supplier development for higher-risk suppliers.
Ensure incoming materials with known or suspected deviations receive appropriate Quality verification before release to production.
Partner with Procurement and Global Quality on supplier escalation, qualification and disqualification decisions.
Design Quality / NPI
Ensure Quality has an effective role at new-product and major-process-change kickoffs.
Drive appropriate risk analysis, PFMEA, quality planning, validation and acceptance criteria before production launch.
Partner with Engineering and Product Management to prevent late discovery of manufacturability, reliability and customer-quality risks.
Ensure lessons learned from complaints, CAPAs and field performance are translated into future product and process controls.
Quality Systems & Governance
Maintain an effective ISO 9001-aligned Quality Management System across the regional manufacturing network.
Own regional execution for nonconformance, CAPA, complaints, internal audits, management review and Quality KPI processes.
Drive use of a single source of truth for Quality records and performance reporting, reducing reliance on disconnected manual trackers.
Support audit readiness, document discipline and effective closure of internal and external audit findings.
Decision Authority
Final regional disposition authority for significant nonconforming material above delegated engineering thresholds.
Approval authority for CAPA closure and responses to internal and external quality-system findings within NA PPS scope.
Authority to approve, escalate or decline Quality recommendations related to containment, customer credits and field/recall actions.
Authority to initiate supplier audits and recommend supplier corrective action, development or disqualification in coordination with Procurement and Global Quality.
Hiring, performance and development decisions for direct and indirect regional Quality resources within delegated authority.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Operations or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
8-10+ years of progressive Quality experience in manufacturing, including at least 5 years leading people across multiple sites or a substantial manufacturing Quality organization.
Demonstrated experience building or materially strengthening Quality systems and operating disciplines from a low-maturity starting point.
Strong manufacturing problem-solving capability using structured methods such as 8D, A3, 5-Why, FMEA, SPC and capability analysis.
Experience with customer quality, supplier quality, CAPA, audits, nonconformance control, COPQ and management review.
Working knowledge of ISO 9001; ISO 9001 Lead Auditor preferred.
ASQ Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), CQE or equivalent certification preferred.
Comfort operating in a hands-on transformation environment while simultaneously building more scalable systems and reporting.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly among NA PPS facilities and to suppliers/customers as business needs require.
Leadership Profile
Business-minded Quality leader who connects quality performance to customer experience, cost, delivery and growth.
Visible manufacturing-floor leader who is equally comfortable with operators, engineers, customers and executives.
Uses data and risk to make decisions; does not rely on opinion, hierarchy or inspection alone.
Creates accountability without turning Quality into a policing function.
Surfaces problems early, escalates appropriately and drives issues to verified closure.
Balances immediate containment with systemic prevention and long-term capability building.
