Original job description

At Range, we’re building towards a world where anyone can live the financial life they imagine for themselves. If that sounds like a mission you want to be a part of, let’s create it together.

We’re building AI-powered wealth management. Investments, taxes, retirement, estate planning, all in one platform instead of scattered across different advisors and apps. We're backed by Google's Gradient Ventures, Cathay Innovation, Scale Venture Partners, and more. We’re growing fast while still small enough that everyone's work is visible and impactful.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re looking for an Investment Analyst to join our growing investment team at Range as we build an alternative investment offering for our members. Range will offer vetted third-party funds across private equity, private credit and real assets, plus direct co-investments and pre-IPO opportunities. The Investment Analyst reports to the Head of Alternatives and contributes to the analytical work behind every manager and deal we bring to members: sourcing, due diligence, investment committee materials and ongoing monitoring. You will also have the opportunity to engage directly with members as a subject matter expert on Range’s alternative investment offerings and the role these assets play in the broader plan for members.

This is a unique opportunity to join a team building both a suite of institutional-quality investment offerings and the operational infrastructure to implement them from the ground up. You will help set up the diligence process, the approved-manager list and the reporting that a new wealth-channel alternatives platform needs. You will play a critical role in distilling market developments to our planning team and disseminating our investment recommendations and analysis to our members via meetings, messages, and published content.

But we’re looking for more than just technical skill - we’re looking for someone who is deeply curious about alternative investments, energized by AI, and ready to build the future of wealth management.

This role is based in our New York City office. Employees hired for this position will work in-office Monday–Friday. If you are not currently located in the area, your willingness to relocate will be a contingency for employment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO WITH US

  • Partner closely with investment leadership to source and screen third-party managers and funds, including drawdown and evergreen/semi-liquid vehicles (interval funds, tender-offer funds, non-traded REITs and BDCs).
  • Monitor approved funds and deals through quarterly reports, manager calls and annual meetings.
  • Evaluate co-investment opportunities from GP partners, often on short timelines.
  • Diligence pre-IPO and secondary opportunities: SPV structure, share class and preferences, transfer restrictions, information rights, layered fees and exit paths.
  • Meet with members to discuss portfolio strategy, investment management opportunities, and other investment-related topics.
  • Support implementation of investment strategies across member accounts, ensuring alignment with model portfolios and strategic targets.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Financial Planning, Operations, and Engineering to improve investment workflows and tools.
  • Rapidly digest important market news and assist with the creation of investment memos, market commentary, and member-facing written and video content.

WHAT WILL SET YOU APART

  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role. This could be manager research or due diligence on a wealth platform, OCIO, family office, fund of funds, or investing or product work at an alternatives manager.
  • Working knowledge of fund structures and terms: drawdown vs. evergreen vehicles, LPAs, fee and carry waterfalls, and liquidity provisions.
  • CFA or CAIA designations
  • Series 7 and/or Series 65 or Series 66 licenses
  • Member-facing experience with HNW and UHNW individuals of all ages
  • Passion for the markets and strong investment acumen
  • Organizational and written communication skills
  • Experience using financial services technologies
  • Demonstrated interest in the tech industry, artificial intelligence, and/or experience with start-ups
  • Consumer fintech experience

OTHER COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The range above reflects base salary only. Our offer packages also include equity in the form of stock options, so total compensation for this role will exceed the base salary range.

We do not ask for or consider salary history. You are welcome to ask questions about compensation at any point in the process.

BENEFITS

  • Comprehensive health coverage: Medical, dental, and vision
  • 401k plan
  • Technology allowance
  • PTO
  • Top of Market Pay
  • Paid parental leave
