Prototype Machinist

Randstad Staffing is HIRING NOW for a Direct-Hire Prototype Machinist in White Bear Lake, MN. In this role you will work in a toolroom environment and will be required to operate and setup various manual and mill machining centers. Skills and Qualifications

• Demonstrated proficiency in BOTH manual and CNC machining required; ability to independently complete setup, machining, and inspection.
• 5+ years of machining experience, including hands-on experience with both manual and CNC equipment; toolroom, prototype, and precision short-run experience preferred.
• Ability to create and edit CNC programs, interpret G-code, establish offsets, and safely prove out new programs; CAD/CAM experience preferred.
• strong understanding of blueprint reading, GD&T, machining mathematics, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
• Knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds and speeds, workholding, and machining processes for metals and plastics.

salary: $60,000 - $85,000 per year shift: First work hours: 7 AM - 3 PM education: High School

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill presses, and other toolroom equipment to produce precision components.
• Program, set up, and operate CNC mills and lathes; establish work offsets, select tooling, prove out programs, and adjust feeds, speeds, and tool offsets.
• Build, modify, and repair jigs, fixtures, tooling, gauges, and machine components from drawings, sketches, samples, or engineering direction.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and specifications; determine machining sequences and appropriate workholding methods.
• Machine prototype and short-run parts in metals and plastics while meeting dimensional, surface finish, and delivery requirements.
• Inspect completed and in-process work using micrometers, calipers, indicators, bore gauges, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
