Original job description

An advanced engineered stone surface manufacturing facility in the Dallas area is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Engineer & Maintenance Lead. Our facility pairs precision European equipment and digital color infusion with continuous surface processing. You will own mechanical reliability across the plant, diagnosing complex failures, executing repairs, and building a structured preventive maintenance program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults involving precision conveyors, alignment, bearings, pumps, cooling circuits, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
  • Troubleshoot complex automated production lines, isolating equipment faults from utility, material, and process issues.
  • Lead root-cause analyses on recurring breakdowns alongside electrical and software controls engineers.
  • Establish preventive maintenance schedules, repair standards, and critical spare parts inventories based on failure impact and lead times.
  • Coordinate OEM technical service visits to internalize repair knowledge, and train machine operators on routine inspections and first-line checks.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering or industrial maintenance experience in a production environment.
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent demonstrated industrial experience.
  • Proven ability to read mechanical drawings, measure tolerances, and troubleshoot rotating equipment and fluid systems.
  • A focus on permanent root-cause elimination over repetitive parts replacement.
  • Commitment to energy-isolation / LOTO safety procedures.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, stone processing, or integrated European lines (e.g., Breton) is preferred; CAD/CMMS familiarity is a plus.

salary: $110,000 - $140,000 per year shift: First work hours: 8 AM - 4 PM education: Associate

Responsibilities

  • Identify and resolve faults involving conveyors, alignment, bearings, pumps, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, cooling circuits, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot the mechanical interfaces across our Breton Chromia line and supporting production equipment; distinguish equipment faults from utility, material, and process issues.
  • Plan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance using OEM instructions, drawings, measurements, and documented repair methods.
  • Investigate recurring failures, verify root causes, and implement corrective actions with the electrical and industrial software engineers.
  • Maintain equipment histories, critical spare parts lists, inspection standards, and repair records; prioritize parts by failure impact and lead time.
  • Coordinate OEM service visits and capture the knowledge needed for our team to complete future authorized repairs independently.
  • Train operators in inspections, early fault recognition, and approved first-line maintenance; verify repairs before equipment returns to production.

The essential functions of this role include:

  • working in a smoke free environment
  • wearing steel toe shoes
  • manual lifting up to 50lbs
  • standing for 8 hours at one time
