job summary:

Cisco CVP VXML Developer We are seeking a highly proficient Cisco CVP VXML Developer to build, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and autonomous agent applications. In this role, your primary focus will be the hands-on development of dynamic VXML applications using Cisco Unified Customer Voice Portal (CVP) Call Studio, and writing Java components to consume existing APIs for backend connectivity. You will work on the application development layer of the IVR and autonomous/scripted agent capabilities. Working alongside dedicated design/documentation, speech-tuning, testing and routing peers, you will bring complex self-service customer journeys to life by seamlessly connecting the IVR to enterprise systems using established web services.

responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

 IVR Application Development: Develop, test, and deploy complex Cisco CVP VXML

self-service applications using Cisco CVP Call Studio based on provided call flow

designs.

 Autonomous Scripted Agents: Develop, integrate, and implement Cisco Scripted

Agents or Autonomous Agent functionalities to enhance self-service automation.

 Java Engineering & API Utilization: Write custom Call Studio Java elements and

business logic to drive dynamic IVR capabilities, strictly leveraging existing RESTful and

SOAP APIs to integrate the IVR with CRM platforms and backend databases.

 Version Control Management: Utilize GIT for comprehensive version control, branch

management, code merges, and maintaining the integrity of the CVP application

codebase.

 System Support & Troubleshooting: Debug complex VXML and Java application

issues; perform log analysis, root cause troubleshooting, and application-level

performance tuning for the CVP VoiceXML Server.

qualifications:

Required Skills

 Cisco CVP VXML: Deep proficiency in Cisco CVP Call Studio, VXML scripting, CVP

VoiceXML Server, and CVP Subdialog / Element architectures.

 Java Development: 4+ years of hands-on Java development experience (J2EE,

JSON/XML handling, and building custom CVP Java elements).

 API Integration: Proven ability to consume and leverage existing REST and SOAP APIs

to integrate IVR/VXML platforms with enterprise CRMs (e.g., Salesforce, ServiceNow,

Microsoft Dynamics) for real-time data lookup and context passing.

 Version Control: High proficiency in GIT for source code management, branching

strategies, and collaboration in a team development environment.

 Application Servers & Protocols: Solid understanding of VXML, HTTP/HTTPS, Web

Services standards, and web application servers (e.g., Tomcat, WebSphere).

Preferred Skills

 Direct experience building and deploying Cisco Scripted Agent or Cisco Autonomous

Agent features.

 Hands-on exposure to other autonomous IVR systems, modern Conversational AI, or

NLU/NLP platforms (e.g., Google Dialogflow, Cognigy or Webex Connect) integrated at

the IVR level.

 Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines for VXML/Java deployments, and automated

testing frameworks specifically for IVR applications.

 Relevant certifications: Cisco Certified DevNet Associate/Professional, or relevant

Java/Development certifications.
