Overview
Ragnar Benson Construction, a MasTec company is hiring for Summer 2027 Internships. As an Estimating Intern at Ragnar Benson, you will gain hands on experience supporting the preconstruction and estimating team on commercial, industrial, and heavy construction projects. This internship provides exposure to the full bidding process, helping develop the technical, analytical, and communication skills needed for a successful career in construction management.
Location: This role will work in our Rockford, IL office.

Responsibilities
- Assist estimators in preparing cost estimates and bid proposals
- Review project plans, specifications, and contract documents
- Perform quantity takeoffs and material calculations
- Research subcontractors, suppliers, and pricing information
- Help solicit and track subcontractor and vendor bids
- Maintain estimating databases and project documentation
- Support the preconstruction team with budgeting and value engineering efforts
- Participate in project meetings and gain exposure to client and subcontractor interactions
Qualifications
Education:
- Currently pursuing undergraduate, four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or similar
Requirements:
- Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related field
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Eager to learn and interested in the commercial and industrial construction industry
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Compensation $20-$21 /hour. This is a temporary position, no company benefits are offered.
