Job Description:

Quevera is seeking a Geospatial Quality Assurance Engineer with an active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph in Herndon, Virginia. This role leads testing and quality assurance for a cloud-based geospatial data lake, including ingestion pipelines, data services and APIs, search interfaces, and GIS client integrations. Working closely with government customers and cloud development teams, the position supports defect resolution, user acceptance testing, geospatial data validation, and documentation to ensure system usability and effectiveness.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute test strategies, plans, cases, and traceability matrices aligned with requirements and user stories across data ingestion, transformation, storage, APIs, and GIS client integrations.
  • Identify, reproduce, document, and triage defects; collaborate with developers and government stakeholders to track issues through resolution, verify fixes, and report defect trends and release readiness.
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with government customers, serving as an advocate for end users.
  • Validate geospatial data quality, including geometry validity, coordinate reference systems, projections, attribute completeness, and spatial query accuracy.
  • Test REST APIs and data services for correctness, error handling, security controls, and performance.
  • Develop and maintain data dictionaries, user guides, release notes, and test reports.
  • Design and deliver end-user training and support documentation for accreditation, audits, and release approvals.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph required.
  • Hands-on experience planning and executing integration, end-to-end, regression, and UAT testing, including developing test plans, cases, and reports from requirements or user stories.
  • Proficiency with defect and test management tools such as Jira, Xray, Zephyr, TestRail, or similar.
  • Experience testing REST APIs using Postman, curl, or scripted tests.
  • Working knowledge of SQL for data validation and back-end verification.
  • Knowledge of GIS fundamentals, including coordinate reference systems, projections, datums, vector and raster data models, and common formats such as GeoJSON and Shapefile.
  • Experience with desktop GIS tools, including Esri ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS.
  • Familiarity with AWS-hosted applications and services, including Lambda, ECS, SQS/SNS, and Aurora PostgreSQL, sufficient to isolate failures.
  • Familiarity with multi-environment release pipelines and Git.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with government and end-user customers, lead test events, communicate technical issues to non-technical audiences, and produce clear technical documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, GIS, Geography, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically three (3) or more years of software testing or quality assurance experience, including data-intensive or geospatial systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Test automation experience using Python/pytest, Selenium, Playwright, or similar tools.
  • Experience with PostGIS and spatial SQL.
  • Performance and load testing experience using JMeter, Locust, or k6.
  • Experience supporting software in DoD/IC accreditation environments, including RMF and ATO documentation.
  • Certifications such as ISTQB (Foundation or Advanced), CSTE, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or Esri technical certification.
  • DoD 8140 baseline certification, such as CompTIA Security+, if the role requires privileged system access.
