Original job description

Archived listing. The details below describe a past opening.

At Qualtrics, we create software the world’s best brands use to deliver exceptional frontline experiences, build high-performing teams, and design products people love. But we are more than a platform - we are the creators and stewards of the Experience Management category serving over 18K clients globally. Building a category takes grit, determination, and a disdain for convention - but most of all it requires close-knit, high-functioning teams with an unwavering dedication to serving our customers.

When you join one of our teams, you’ll be part of a nimble group that’s empowered to set aggressive goals and move fast to achieve them. Strategic risks are encouraged and complex problems are solved together, by passing the microphone and iterating until the best solution comes to light. You won’t have to look to find growth opportunities - ready or not, they’ll find you. From retail to government to healthcare, we’re on a mission to bring humanity, connection, and empathy back to business. Join over 5,000 people across the globe who think that’s work worth doing.

Why We Have This Role

Qualtrics is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our XM Directory (XMD) Engineering team in our Seattle office. Has worked with design and product teams to understand needs and turn them into end-user features
Has contributed to scalable, fast, robust web-based solutions that solve complex business problems

What You Should Know About This Team

Every great experience starts with knowing who you’re talking to. XM Directory is where that knowledge lives. When a customer, employee, or other stakeholder interacts with a company, XM Directory can capture it and remember it. Over time, those moments add up to living profiles that show what people like, what they need, and how every interaction makes them feel. That experience context helps close the Experience Gap, the distance between what people expect and what companies deliver, and it lets AI, including our Experience Agents, act in the moments that matter. As Qualtrics builds its next-generation XM Data & AI Platform, you’ll work on the data layer it depends on.

Behind that is an engineering team solving big-data problems: storage systems built to hold stakeholder data at scale, and computation and serving layers that make it fast and useful the moment someone needs it. When AI is acting inside a live customer moment, that data has to be fresh, accurate, and fast to reach. We pick the right tool for each job from a broad toolkit of open source and industry-proven technologies, including Elasticsearch, AWS DynamoDB, AWS Kinesis, Redis, and more.

As a Software Engineer II on the XMD team, you’ll apply your engineering experience to meaningful problems in distributed systems and data infrastructure, collaborate closely with senior engineers, and help build the data foundation that AI-powered experiences depend on.
