Original job description

🚛 About Qargo Qargo is a cloud-based (SaaS) Transport Management Platform. We are a scale-up based in London, Ghent (Belgium), Chicago and rapidly expanding across Europe and the US. The platform is an ‘all-in-one system’, handling everything from initial order entry to final invoicing. It optimises planning and includes built-in AI that automates lengthy manual tasks. Qargo is designed to help modern logistics operations run more efficiently, while increasing profitability and sustainability. We’re looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join our team in Chicago. If you’re looking to work in an international company in a role that offers autonomy, ownership, and impact, this one’s for you! 💼 About the Role As a Business Analyst, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering successful customer projects while maintaining Qargo’s high standards of customer service and teamwork. You are the technical owner of a customer's custom integrations. You find out how data moves through their operation today, design how it will flow into Qargo, then build, test and launch it. The customer's IT team and their software and EDI partners talk to you about how their data will move. Most of the work is configuration and data transformation in our mapping layer, generic integration building blocks and external API. It is not full-stack software development. Engineering steps in only when something needs new product code. You work alongside an Integrations Delivery Manager, who runs the project and customer communication, and the Customer Onboarding Manager, who owns the wider go-live.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

  • Dive deep into the customer’s business to understand their workflows, goals, and constraints

What your week looks like:

  • Run technical discovery calls with a customer's IT lead and their EDI provider, and name every data flow: orders in, status updates out, invoices out.
  • Write the integration design: data flows, triggers, edge cases and assumptions.
  • Map and transform payloads (JSON, XML, CSV, EDI X12 204/214/210/990) with our mapping layer and JSONata.
  • Test endpoints in Postman, debug failed messages from the logs, validate with the customer on sandbox, then move to production.
  • Estimate effort and cost for the integrations you scope.
  • Own delivery against a committed go-live date and flag slippage early.
  • Turn recurring gaps in our integration framework into reusable building blocks, templates or feature requests.
  • Keep documentation and knowledge sharing on integrations up to date.

✅ Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years hands-on with system integrations, EDI or data mapping in a SaaS, TMS, WMS or ERP implementation role.
  • Working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON and XML. You have tested endpoints with Postman or a similar tool.
  • Experience with EDI (ANSI X12) or other B2B message formats.
  • Hands-on with data transformation logic: you can write expressions that map fields, filter lists and apply conditions. We use JSONata. Experience with JSONPath, XSLT, jq or the mapping tool of an EDI or iPaaS platform transfers directly.
  • You can read an API spec and explain to a non-technical customer how their data will move.
  • You are structured and run several integrations in parallel.
  • You use AI tools in your day-to-day work.

Nice to haves:

  • logistics/TMS experience
  • Basic SQL and scripting knowledge

🤝 What We Offer

  • A competitive salary package with great benefits
  • A role with real ownership, responsibility, and measurable impact
  • The opportunity to grow and shape your career as Qargo scales across the USA
  • Flexible hours and hybrid working options
  • A collaborative, international, and mission-driven team
