Engineering Technician (Engineering Tech)

Engineering Technician The Engineering Technician is the higher-skill technical seat for direct line support. The seat reports to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager. The work is setup, training support, process support, and the equipment problems that facilities maintenance does not own. Position Details ------------------- ------------------------------------------ Reports to Engineering and Maintenance Manager Department / area Engineering Shift Day, with line-down response as assigned Level Individual contributor ------------------- ------------------------------------------ Organizational Placement In engineering: Reports to the Engineering and Maintenance Manager. Supports the Production, Primary, Mix, Packout, and Pellet lines when assigned. Does not report to those managers or supervisors. Works with the Chemical Process Technician on process and setup support. Does not supervise the Maintenance Technicians or the Groundskeepers. Does not own facilities or grounds. Does not replace the pellet engineering seats, which report to the Pellet Manager. Does not change a process or a setup without the manager and the area supervisor. Attendance and conduct are handled by the Engineering and Maintenance Manager. Essential Responsibilities Give direct support to the assigned line: setup, changeover, and the first-hour run. Coordinate with the area supervisor before working on a line. The area supervisor owns the shift; the technician supports it. Train operators on the setup and the equipment checks for the job assigned. Training is on the approved instruction, not a personal method. Support the process: find the equipment or setup condition that is putting the job out of standard, and correct it within the approved instruction. Diagnose equipment faults that are beyond facilities maintenance. Tell the manager if the repair will stop the schedule.
