Original job description
Description
About Protora Protora is formerly C Speed. We build radar and surveillance systems that give military and government customers eyes on their airspace, borders, and critical sites. Our name draws from the Praetorian Guard, elite soldiers whose job was to watch and protect. That history shapes our mission today: we take first watch, so the people we protect don't have to. We are a growing company with a new brand and a clear direction.
The Role Protora is hiring an Electronics Assembler (Precision) to perform detailed assembly, wiring, soldering, and inspection of electronic components and assemblies used in complex radar and surveillance systems. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to follow technical documentation and quality standards.
This position will support production startup and ramp-up activities at Protora's new manufacturing facility, working closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality to ensure consistent, reliable assembly.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on precision electronics assembly experience with strong workmanship, technical aptitude, and a commitment to quality.
What You'll Do
- Perform precision electronic assembly, including component installation, wiring, soldering, and related production activities.
- Assemble electronic components, circuit boards, cables, connectors, and subassemblies according to approved instructions and specifications.
- Read and follow engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, bills of material (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
- Perform soldering, crimping, cable preparation, and connector assembly using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Inspect completed assemblies for workmanship, accuracy, and compliance with quality requirements.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, and applicable test equipment to support assembly and verification.
- Identify and report defective components, assembly discrepancies, and potential quality concerns.
- Maintain accurate production records, traceability, and documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Follow electrostatic discharge (ESD) precautions, safety requirements, and approved handling procedures.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, and Production to resolve assembly issues and improve processes.
- Support production setup, workflow improvements, and manufacturing ramp-up activities at the new facility.
Requirements
What You Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in electronics preferred.
- 2+ years of electronics assembly experience in a manufacturing or technical production environment.
- Hands-on experience with soldering, wiring, cable assembly, connectors, and precision electronic components.
- Ability to interpret assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, technical instructions, and BOMs.
- Experience using hand tools, soldering equipment, and basic measurement or inspection tools.
- Understanding of ESD precautions, workmanship standards, and quality requirements.
- Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to perform repetitive precision assembly tasks.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while maintaining accuracy and production expectations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace, defense, radar, telecommunications, or complex electronic manufacturing.
- Familiarity with IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, or J-STD-001 workmanship standards.
- Experience with surface-mount or through-hole component assembly and rework.
- Familiarity with configuration-controlled documentation and traceability requirements.
- Experience supporting low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing or new product introduction.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly Rate: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).
- Benefits: Health, Dental & Vision Insurance | Paid Time Off (PTO) | Retirement Plan Package.
