Original job description

Who We Are:

Today, Propeller's 250+ professionals serve as the embedded finance and accounting partner to some of the most iconic emerging companies in Consumer, Technology, Blockchain, and Business Services. All are full-time employees, across three continents; none are contractors or freelancers. Behind us: 1,500+ companies served, $105B+ in enterprise value created, 26 unicorn alumni, and $29B+ raised. Ahead of us: the transformation of professional services through AI-enabled intelligence. Our embedded teams integrate seamlessly into client operations in multi-year partnerships. We attend weekly leadership meetings, participate in board prep, collaborate on strategic decisions, and have direct access to client CEOs and CFOs. This embedded positioning creates trust, access, and influence that traditional providers never achieve. PropellerOS, our financial operating platform, combines human judgment, precision accounting, data infrastructure, and AI-enabled insight to transform finance from a back-office function into the central nervous system of growth. The system enables finance-grade standards of lineage, reconciliation, auditability, and explainability, with a named human accountable for every number we ship.

Title: Senior Software and Integrations Engineer

Reports To: Engineering Leadership

Location: Remote (In person meetings as needed)

The work spans four domains. We expect deep strength in two or three of them, with willingness to contribute across the others.

Data Engineering

You build and maintain data pipelines feeding reporting and analytics. You implement data models and clean contracts between systems. You work with Databricks and PostgreSQL, handle schema changes, migrations, and backups, and support data quality, reconciliation, and integrity. Finance-grade data means every number traces back to a source and reconciles.

You work with the Anthropic Claude API to build AI features into the platform. You use AI coding tools day to day for building, integrating, debugging, documenting, and testing. You stay current on AI tools and apply them where they help. Automating repetitive work is the baseline; the goal is building AI capabilities that compound the judgment of our finance teams.

Application Development

You deliver full-stack, hands-on work from data model to API to interface. The stack is TypeScript across a React front end and Node.js (Express, Prisma) services, with Python (FastAPI, Azure Functions) for APIs and data pipelines. You translate requirements into technical designs, choose architecture within the standards set by leadership, and own testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end as appropriate.

DevOps

You work with Azure infrastructure (Entra ID, Key Vault), Microsoft Graph and SharePoint integrations, and Redis caching. You follow and contribute to the change-control process: propose, review, track, and release changes per the defined workflow. You troubleshoot and resolve issues across applications, integrations, and infrastructure. You uphold engineering standards: code quality, version control, and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

Take technical ownership of assigned solutions with accountability for quality and delivery, not just individual tasks.
Define solutions: translate requirements into technical designs, approaches, and plans.
Implement full-stack, hands-on delivery from data model to API to interface.
Own testing: unit, integration, and end-to-end; validate against requirements before release.
Design and build integrations connecting systems within the architecture owned by leadership.
Peer-review teammates' work: code reviews, design feedback, and constructive critique.
Contribute to shared tooling, standards, and documentation.
Track work and changes in the team's shared system; keep work visible and documented.
Use AI tools to work efficiently, automating repetitive work so you can focus on solution design and quality.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a similar field.
Strong in two or three of the four domains (data engineering, AI, application development, DevOps); comfortable contributing in the others with room to grow.
Demonstrated AI fluency: you work with AI tools in your own workflow today, and you can walk us through how it changes what you produce.
Works effectively with limited supervision; self-directed on execution within direction, architecture, and standards set by leadership.
Strong peer collaborator and reviewer; shares knowledge across the team.
Makes sound technical decisions independently and knows when to escalate.
Raises strategy, budget/cost, and cross-functional decisions to leadership rather than owning them.

Tech Stack

TypeScript across a React front end and Node.js (Express, Prisma) services, Python (FastAPI, Azure Functions) for APIs and data pipelines, Databricks and PostgreSQL with Redis caching, Azure infrastructure (Entra ID, Key Vault), Microsoft Graph and SharePoint integrations, and the Anthropic Claude API for AI features.

DEI Statement: At Propeller Industries, we encourage our employees and our clients to bring their true selves to the organization. We believe that a diverse team enables us to cultivate and improve upon our culture of inclusion and collaboration. As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome the contributions that you can bring in terms of your education, opinions, culture, ethnicity, race, sex, gender identity and expression, nation of origin, age, languages spoken, veteran’s status, religion, disability, sexual orientation, and beliefs. So however you identify and whatever your background, we encourage you to apply for this role if you share our passion for helping great entrepreneurs build great companies. We look forward to meeting you!

Benefits

Salary range: $150,000 - $180,000 plus annual bonus, benefits and 401k match

Current Benefits Offered: Generous Paid Time Off and Holiday pay, Comprehensive health benefits plus dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and life insurance. HSA contribution, Paid Family Leave, 401k match and Remote Work. We also help you grow in your professional life.
