Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team remotely. As a member of our team, the right candidate be a skilled and detail-oriented FEA/CFD Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to simulate, analyze, and solve complex engineering problems. As an FEA/CFD Engineer, you will play a critical role in optimizing product designs, improving performance, ensuring structural integrity, and evaluating fluid flow, heat transfer, and thermal management within components and systems. This position requires a solid background in mechanical engineering, advanced analytical skills, and a strong understanding of material behavior, fluid dynamics, and thermal processes under various operating conditions.
This is a full-time position that is indefinite in duration with the opportunity of professional growth, and additional opportunities within our organization.
Duties:
- Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations on complex mechanical or structural components using industry-standard software (e.g., ANSYS Mechanical, Abaqus, Nastran, etc.).
- Perform Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze fluid flow, heat transfer, pressure distribution, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and thermal management using software such as ANSYS Fluent, CFX, Star-CCM+, or similar tools.
- Analyze and interpret results from FEA and CFD simulations to provide insights into product design, material behavior, fluid performance, thermal characteristics, and potential failure points.
- Collaborate with design engineers and product teams to optimize product designs for performance, durability, thermal efficiency, fluid flow characteristics, and manufacturability.
- Validate and verify simulation models through experimental data, prototype testing, wind tunnel testing, flow bench testing, thermal testing, and real-world performance evaluations.
- Prepare detailed reports and technical presentations summarizing analysis findings, design recommendations, and simulation results.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure alignment with FEA and CFD best practices.
- Develop and refine simulation methodologies, meshing strategies, boundary conditions, and solver settings for accurate and efficient analyses.
- Identify opportunities to improve FEA/CFD workflows, tools, automation, and simulation methodologies within the team.
- Support the design and development of prototypes and participate in testing phases to correlate simulation results with physical performance.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to engineers regarding structural analysis, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, vibration, durability, and simulation best practices.
- Ensure all simulations are performed in compliance with relevant industry standards, customer requirements, and engineering practices.
- Stay current with advancements in FEA, CFD, simulation technologies, and engineering analysis methodologies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related field (Master's preferred).
- 3-5+ years of experience performing FEA and/or CFD simulations, with proficiency in tools such as ANSYS Mechanical, ANSYS Fluent, Abaqus, Nastran, Star-CCM+, CFX, or similar software (ANSYS Preferred).
- Strong background in mechanical, structural, thermal, or fluid systems engineering.
- Experience with stress, vibration, fatigue, thermal, flow, pressure drop, heat transfer, and multiphysics analyses.
- Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA) and integration with simulation tools (Creo & SolidWorks Preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of material properties, turbulence models, fluid behavior, boundary conditions, meshing techniques, and solver methodologies.
- Strong understanding of linear and nonlinear static, dynamic, thermal, and fluid flow analysis methods.
- Experience correlating simulation results with laboratory or field test data.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work with complex datasets and simulation models.
- Experience with optimization techniques such as topology optimization, shape optimization, design of experiments (DOE), and parametric studies.
- Familiarity with coding/scripting (e.g., Python, MATLAB, APDL, VBA) to automate simulation and post-processing workflows is a plus.
- Experience with multiphysics simulation involving structural, thermal, and fluid interactions is a plus.
Preferred:
- Agricultural equipment, off-highway, heavy machinery, automotive, aerospace, or industrial equipment development.
- Thermal management systems, cooling systems, HVAC, combustion, aerodynamics, hydraulics, or pneumatic systems.
- Design validation and correlation testing.
- CFD analysis involving internal and external flow applications.
- Experience supporting product development from concept through production.
