Original job description

Procore Technologies is the leading technology partner for every stage of construction. We empower construction teams to drive efficiency and mitigate risk through actionable AI & data-driven insights. For over 20 years, we have been transforming the industry with purpose-built solutions for construction professionals and we’re looking for talented people to help us build together.

We are looking for a Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering to lead forward deployed engineers who embed with our largest enterprise construction customers to take AI solutions from inception to production, adoption, and measurable value. As the Manager, Forward Deployed Engineering on our AI Division, you will work closely with Customer Success, Sales, Product, and customer technical leaders to operationalize enterprise AI across the field. Your strengths in technical leadership, enterprise AI/LLM deployment architecture, and customer delivery methodology will drive your success.

You will report to the Director of AI Solutions and will be based in New York City (NYC) as a hybrid role.

What You’ll Do

  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-velocity team of Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs), setting standards for AI literacy, technical quality, customer communication, and career development.
  • Structure delivery engagements to ensure clear milestones, ownership, and status, proactively unblocking teams through requirements, evals, build, user acceptance testing, and production rollout.
  • Define, track, and report on Time-to-Value metrics to accelerate customer adoption and optimize team resourcing.
  • Standardize the deployment methodology by turning bespoke builds into repeatable solutions, including reusable agent templates, eval benchmarks, data integration patterns, and playbooks.
  • Serve as the senior technical escalation point to resolve complex data integrations, knowledge graph challenges, agent evaluation bottlenecks, or customer stack mismatches.
  • Build cohesive cross-functional delivery pods with FDEs, Solutions Architects, AI Deployment Specialists, Customer Success Engineers, Strategic Product Consultants, and Sales.
  • Partner with Sales and Customer Success during pre-sales validation and post-sale delivery to establish realistic technical expectations and scope alignment.
  • Close the field-to-product loop by translating customer field requirements, recurring workarounds, and product gaps into prioritized engineering signals for Product and Core Engineering.
  • Maintain deep technical expertise in Procore AI and the broader platform to ensure customer solutions align with platform capabilities and roadmap.
  • Join enterprise customers onsite for kickoffs, technical workshops, executive reviews, and critical deployments.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years in software engineering, forward deployed engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting, including 2+ years leading or managing engineers in a customer-facing role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience building and shipping LLM-powered applications or AI agents to production, with strong knowledge of prompting, tool use, retrieval, evaluation, and data pipelines.
  • Strong coding ability in Python and/or TypeScript, with the capability to review code, pair program on complex problems, and build functional prototypes.
  • Demonstrated track record of standardizing custom implementations into repeatable methodologies, templates, and scalable playbooks.
  • Proven experience managing a portfolio of concurrent enterprise engagements, balancing milestones, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills to translate complex technology into business outcomes for audiences ranging from site teams to CIOs.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites up to 30%.
  • Experience in construction technology, engineering, or physical-world enterprise software is preferred.
  • Prior experience working within a forward deployed or embedded engineering delivery model is preferred.
  • Familiarity with enterprise data integration, ETL pipelines, knowledge graphs, and systems such as ERPs and scheduling software is preferred.
