Original job description

About Primordial Labs We're building the next generation interface for commanding autonomous systems in the real world. Our core product, Anura, translates spoken or typed intent into structured actions across drones, sensors, and mission software - enabling faster, more intuitive control in high-stakes environments. We’re a distributed team of engineers, operators, and technologists focused on deploying reliable autonomy at the tactical edge. The Opportunity Primordial Labs is growing its strategy team. The Strategy Lead develops the company's view of its external environment: markets, customers, competitors, partners, and budgets. The role turns research into analysis that shapes where the company competes, which programs it pursues, and how it positions Anura. The Lead captures this work in the company's opportunity and analytic systems so it informs decisions across the business. The role starts as a senior individual contributor in the Strategy function and works directly with the executive team. It partners with the Business Analytics Lead, who owns the company's internal reporting and analytic tools. What You'll Do Market and Competitive Analysis

Assess market size, structure, and growth across defense, government, and commercial segments
Track competitor products, contract awards, partnerships, and funding
Monitor technology trends and policy shifts in autonomy, uncrewed systems, and command and control
Evaluate adjacent markets and expansion opportunities

Customer and Program Analysis

Profile priority DoD customers, program offices, and prime contractors
Analyze programs of record, acquisition strategies, and requirements to identify entry points
Map customer organizations, decision-makers, and buying pathways
Support capture teams with opportunity research and customer insight

Budget Analysis

Analyze President's Budget requests, justification books, and appropriations to identify funded demand
Track funding lines, program trajectories, and Congressional marks tied to company priorities
Size addressable funding by customer, program, and capability area

Strategic Planning and Decision Support

Develop recommendations for leadership on market entry, positioning, and partnerships
Contribute to annual strategic planning, board materials, and investor materials
Produce briefings and written assessments for executive audiences

Research Integration

Maintain structured research and analysis in the company's CRM and opportunity database
Partner with the Business Analytics Lead to integrate external data into leadership reporting
Apply AI-assisted research tools to expand coverage and speed

About You

5+ years of experience in management consulting, corporate strategy, market research, or a comparable analytical role
Demonstrated record of structuring ambiguous strategic questions and delivering recommendations to senior executives
Strong primary and secondary research skills, including synthesis of incomplete or conflicting sources
Ability to create polished presentations to communicate findings to leadership
Advanced market and financial modeling in Excel
Clear, concise executive writing and briefing skills
Bachelor's degree

Preferred Qualifications

Management consulting experience at a top-tier strategy firm
Experience in defense, aerospace, or national security, including familiarity with DoD acquisition and the budget process
Experience analyzing DoD budget documents and federal contract data (FPDS, USAspending, SAM.gov, DACIS, etc.)
Experience at a venture-backed company during a scale-up phase
Experience building or using AI-assisted research and analysis tools
Active security clearance or eligibility to obtain one

Important Qualification Note: Due to the nature of our work and federal compliance requirements, this position strictly requires U.S. Citizenship and current residency within the United States. Please note that Permanent Residency (Green Card status) or visa sponsorship cannot satisfy these specific regulatory requirements.

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a target base salary of $150,000 - $185,000 annually, with the specific figure determined by the candidate's experience level. We’re committed to fair and equitable compensation and are happy to explain how we determine our salary ranges, just ask! Our Benefits

Beyond a Competitive Salary, we provide a significant equity stake, aligning your growth with ours.
100% Remote: This role is fully remote, open to residents across the US. We believe that talent knows no borders (well, except for the US in this case!).
Comprehensive Health Coverage: We provide comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans so you and your family can stay healthy and worry free.
Retirement Planning: Plan for tomorrow with our 401(k) package, complete with a generous 6% company match.
Generous DTO: Our generous Discretionary Time off (DTO) policy is all about helping you take the breaks you deserve and live your healthiest, most fulfilling life.
Elite Technology Package: Enjoy an elite technology package to make your work effortless and efficient.

Our Interview Process Our interview process is designed to be thorough and respectful of your time. It typically includes:

Conversation with the People Team: Lets get to know one another first!
Manager Interview: A 45-minute discussion about relevant strategy concepts and your past experience.
Team Interviews: Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. During this stage, you’ll meet your prospective peers to discuss our team dynamics, project workflows, and how we work together to win.

We are committed to a low-stress interview experience - no trick questions or brain teasers!
